My name is Willow—strong, resilient, flexible, and quietly beautiful. I may look dainty in photos, but at around 55 pounds, I’m a medium-sized, tough-as-nails girl with a soft heart. I’m believed to be about 3–5 years old and a malamute/husky mix, rescued in Washington alongside my brother Togo and several other dogs (we were famously dubbed “The Magnificent Seven”).

What makes me truly special isn’t flashy obedience or bold bravado—it’s my journey. I am an incredibly gentle, sensitive soul who has spent the last chapter of my life learning how to feel safe, confident, and connected. My training has focused less on “sit” and “stay” and much more on trust, emotional resilience, and learning that humans can be kind, consistent partners. And wow… I’m getting there.

I’m now engaging more, trusting faster, and genuinely enjoying doing things with people. I have lovely leash skills, can follow food luring and leash guidance into most basic commands, and I’m just beginning to feel comfortable with verbal cues. “Down” is still a work in progress—totally understandable, since that’s a vulnerable position and trust takes time—but I’m finally brave enough to try. That’s a huge win for me.

Socially, I’m thriving. I’ve been easy to integrate into groups with both male and female dogs and have shown excellent dog and human social skills. With thoughtful introductions, I enjoy the company of a variety of dogs, and I’d also be perfectly content as an only pet. If my future family is able to come meet me at the kennel, my trainers would love to help with introductions and even offer a transfer lesson to set everyone up for success.

Like many northern-breed mixes, I have an adventurous spirit. I’ll need a securely fenced yard (digging is one of my favorite hobbies), no off-leash outings, and a family with northern-breed experience who understands my independence and intelligence. In return, I offer quiet loyalty, growing confidence, and a deep, steady kind of love.  I dream of a home filled with forest hikes, peaceful stargazing, cozy winter naps, and maybe even a few willow trees to wander beneath.
