Malley Valley Enrichment Program
Creating a safer, healthier environment where rescued Malamutes can prepare for home.
Malley Valley is WAMAL’s three-acre rescue campus in Pierce County, Washington. We are improving the property in three phases to provide rescued Malamutes with more exercise, enrichment, training and secure outdoor space while they await adoption.
Donations are tax-deductible.
HELPING MALAMUTES –
AND THE SHELTERS THAT SERVE OUR COMMUNITIES
Breed-specific rescue has an impact beyond the dogs WAMAL takes into our care.
WAMAL pulls Malamutes from municipal shelters throughout Washington and Oregon and works directly with families who can no longer keep their Malamutes.
Every dog we take from a shelter creates space for that shelter to help another animal. Every owner surrender we accept can keep another large, potentially longer-stay dog from entering the shelter system at all.
Malley Valley makes that work possible.

ACTIVITY & TRAINING AREA
Status: In Development
We are developing a secure activity area for off-leash enrichment, training and volunteer interaction.
NEW PADDOCKS
Status: Grant Funding South
Twelve new secure outdoor paddocks will replace the aging existing paddocks and expand capacity from five to twelve.
A $200,000 INVESTMENT IN MALLEY VALLEY
WAMAL is investing our own funds, volunteer labor and donated resources in this project. We are pursuing grant funding for the largest component – the new paddocks.
WAMAL-FUNDED & VOLUNTEER-SUPPORTED:
- Trail fencing and gates
- Planting preparation and irrigation
- Landscaping and native plantings
- Development of activity area
- Hundreds of hours of volunteer labor
GRANT FUNDING SOUGHT:
New Paddock construction (twelve secure paddocks) – the largest component of the project.
Together, these investments will transform Malley Valley into a model rescue campus and strengthen our ability to serve Malamutes and support the regional shelter system
HELP US COMPLETE THE VISION
